I’ve been featured on trialsntresses.com sharing my natural hair journey! Here are some of the questions I was asked:
When/Why did you decide to go natural?
I began my transition to natural at the age of thirteen because my hair was breaking so bad. My mum relaxed my hair when I was seven years old because I would cry every time she tried to do my hair. When it was relaxed it was SO healthy! And then I started taking care of my own hair when I was twelve because I thought I could take up the responsibility. BIG mistake! My hair was breaking and my mum decided to stop relaxing my hair. That is when I started my transition, although the plan at the time was to grow out my natural hair and then relax it when it got longer. But that did not happen; I ended up keeping my natural hair and I’ve never looked back!
What are some of the struggles natural hair has presented for you?
I love my hair! It’s so versatile, but it is very challenging. Learning how to style my hair and properly moisturize it was the most challenging part (and the many broken combs!). But I have created a regime which works wonders with my hair and it is continuing to grow healthily.
What texture is your hair?
My hair has different textures, 3c (just a little in the front) 4a, b and c. This can be challenging because my hair has different shrinkage rates due to the different textures, but I try to make it work.
